BongSoo(SUL KyungGu) has been working as manager of a small bank in an apartment complex for three years. During his three years there, no, for 23 years if you count his school days, he has never been late. However, he purposely decides to skip work one day. There is only one reason. Inside a subway train that has suddenly stopped on his way to work, everyone around him reaches for their cell phones to call someone. At that moment, he realized that he does not have a single person to call. He does not know that inside the educational center across the street from the bank where he works, a 27-year-old woman WonJu(JEON DoYoun) is looking over to him, nourishing a small love. BongSoo and WonJu run into each other every day, at the Ramen restaurant, at the bank, at the bus station... Various trivial incidents occur, but BongSoo still does not truly recognize WonJu's presence.

 "Cruel Winter Blues", which goes on release Thursday, is a little different from conventional action flicks, even if it deals with revenge and betrayal like much of the genre. But apart from a special emphasis on a mother's love, the movie stands out from the crowd thanks to a masterful performance by Seol Kyeong-gu, who comes to feel uncontrollable love for the mother of an enemy he has to "dispose of". Though passionate and ready to take on anyone, Seol in the movie also portrays a sneaky, shameless coward. The Chosun Ilbo spoke to him about his life and craft.

"Many homes had attics then. Children would hide there to read comic books, or daydream over whether "mom will be sad when I die" after being punished by their parents.
Those were the days.
During kimchi season, mom would preserve more than 100 cabbages in the front yard, and from time to time, schoolgirls would scream over a dead rat that had eaten rat poison in an alley. There were assemblies every Monday morning in school, and we would go to the movies after midterms. We also cleaned toilets and received other disciplinary punishments.

September 28, 2005 ㅡ Even trend-savvy fashion and entertainment industry professionals were taken aback when they received invitations to an opening-night party ― for a TV commercial.
Commercials on TV are only split-second images put together in rapid succession, so how long could the gala take? But then again, the brand in the spotlight was none other than Giordano, a major import fashion brand with 92 stores nationwide. The brand made its name with a series of commercials that featured the biggest stars of the Korean Wave: Jeon Ji-hyeon, Jang Dong-gun and Jeong Woo-seong. Then again, the 150-plus spectators who turned up at a posh Hongdae studio earlier this year could have come on the suspicion that Gang Yong-ho, the celebrity photographer who worked for Giordano, would reveal a few scandalous shots to make things interesting.

"You Are My Sunshine" (directed by Park Jin-pyo), ready to be released on September 22, contains a direct narrative on the theme of love. Eun-ha, a sexy waitress at a cafe, is infected with the HIV/AIDS virus (Jeon Do-yeon) and an innocent bachelor at a rural village, Seok-jung (Hwang Jeong-min) is a person "willing to die for his love" in this tear-provoking movie.
We met Jeon Do-yeon (32), who is ready to send a love message to the audience again after "My Mother, The Mermaid".
--This time, you play the role of a sexy waitress infected with AIDS. Wouldn't that harm your image as an actress?
"You know, anybody wants to fall in love but they don't trust it. I thought I would get to trust it by being in the movie. But Eun-ha and I are different. I am brave in making decisions. I don't think any role would influence my image. In fact, I want to look prettier before my boyfriend and close friends".

'My Mother, the Mermaid - Little Mermaid' casts new light on mother-daughter relationships
It feels a little weird to imagine our parents in love. It's hard to imagine that they too had that tingly feeling by just thinking about or being with each other. It seems impossible, seeing them now.
The word romance just doesn't go with couples who constantly nag, yell and hurt each other. However, this denial comes from our own fear of becoming them one day -- despite our attempts not to.
"My Mother, the Mermaid" opens with a scene where woman divers surf under the sea. A woman diver slowly emerges from underwater. This scene is followed by the scene where Yeon Soon (the mother) spits out thick saliva as she emerges from the water-filled tub in a public bath.
