On April 17th YG Entertainment issued a statement denying that Rose of BLACKPINK is currently in a romantic relationship. While YG Entertainment did not promise legal action in response to the spread of this rumor, it did request that people do their best to avoid spreading it and thanked them for their cooperation. Despite the lack of verification, many online communities have recently been discussing the rumor, which connects the singer to actor Kang Dong-won.

The evidence proferred in such communities has been similar looking fashion items being worn by both celebrities as well as claims of both of them having been seen together at private events. While YG Entertainment was unwilling to disclose exact details of Rose's personal life, the talent agency did claim to have thoroughly vetted her. Rose and Kang Dong-won were both represented by YG Entertainment until December of last year, when Kang Dong-won's contract there expired.

Rose works exclusively as a singer best known for her work with BLACKPINK, and turned twenty-five in February. Gang Dong-won turned forty-two in January, and works mostly in film as an actor. Gang Dong-won last appeared in "Broker" last year, and is expected to appear in "The Plot" and "Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman" later this year. Gang Dong-won's name has also been brought up in connection with the spy drama "Tempest" which would be his first serial drama in nineteen years.
