Despite once being one of the great stars of the South Korean film industry, it has been over twenty years since Shim Eun-ha last appeared in an acting project, her final title being "Interview" in 2000. So there was a flurry of interest when rumors suggested that Shim Eun-ha might return to acting in a new acting project. Unfortunately, such rumors were recently dashed when a representative for Shim Eun-ha confirmed that the former actress has no intention of returning to her former profession.

The rumors have their origins a news report regarding a new project from BY4M Studio. The report stated that BY4M studio claimed they were in contract negotiations with Shim Eun-ha and were optimistic about the possible outcome, though there was no definite news as of yet. However, Shim Eun-ha claims to have never even heard of BY4M Studio. Additionally, legal action has been threatened should any of these rumors continue to persist.

This is not the first time a rumored Shim Eun-ha comeback has been in the news. A similar story appeared in 2010 regarding her signing an agreement with an agency. However, Shim Eun-ha ultimately chose not to return. Shim Eun-ha married a researcher from Yeoui Island in 2005 and has two daughters. Her retirement from the industry is so complete she does not even do advertisements. Whether the forty-nine year old former legend will ever return to public life is unknown.
