Netflix has recently confirmed that Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-shim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an all attended a recent script reading for "Squid Game - Season 2" which was held on June 23rd. Netflix also released photos for the script reading, giving concrete confirmation of many cast members who had previously only been speculative. Park Gyu-young is the most notable, as she headlines "Celebrity" on Netflix which is coming out on June 30th.

Park Gyu-young had her first big break with a breakout role in "Sweet Home" on Netflix in 2020, and much of the casting for "Squid Game - Season 2" derives from other Netflix series. Kang Ae-shim, for example, appeared in "Move to Heaven" in 2021, though she has a large number of credits in television dramas aside from that. Lee David knows director Hwang Dong-hyuk from "The Fortress" as well as actor Lee Jung-jae from "Svaha: The Sixth Finger" from past film projects.
Lee Jin-uk is another "Sweet Home" star, although he also knows director Hwang Dong-hyuk from his work on "Miss Granny" back in 2014. Won Ji-an is currently appearing on "Heartbeat - Drama" as a leading lady in her own right. However, no details are yet known about any of the characters these actors will play. "Squid Game - Season 2" itself will begin filming in the second half of this year for an expected 2024 release.
