[Aisha's Take] Red Velvet's Yeri Makes a Comeback on Screen as a Narcissistic Bully in "Bitch X Rich"

The most awaited web series, "Bitch X Rich" made it on screens on 31st May. The stellar cast and thrilling plot had captured the attention of mass K-Drama fans prior to its release.

"Bitch X Rich" follows the story of Bark Je-na (Yeri), a third generation conglomerate, and Kim Hye-in (Lee Eun-saem), a dirt spoon, as they battle against each other and the hierarchical system of society.
Cheongdam Highschool was created especially for the elite class. This has caused an uproar in society as parents demanded equal education for everyone. This pressure allowed some students to come through an equality education program, but that would only turn into a nightmare for them. For the class division did not only remain in the outside world. Cheongdam Highschool had a hierarchy of its own and Baek Jena stood at the top. This leads to constant bullying and violence in the school.
Red Velvet's Yeri amuses fans as Baek Je-na. She is cold-hearted and narcissistic. Being a third generation conglomerate, she knows her power and it makes her fearless. Being on the top, she likes to keep the pyramid intact. Hence, she makes sure to keep people in their place.
Like in episode 1, when her victim demands a reason to bully him, she pompously replies that it is because he was poor. Later in episode 3, when she witnesses another girl bullying another student. She calls her out in front of everyone and asks her to point out her name on the board. This board tells how much one's parents contribute to the school. Therefore, it also becomes the reason behind the hierarchical system.
Previously, Yeri made her acting debut in "Blue Birthday" where she played the role of Oh Ha-rin, who goes back in time to save her boyfriend. This role is a complete reverse of it and something very new coming from Red Velvet's maknae. Fans wish to see more of Baek Je-na's story and her character in upcoming roles.
