Kim Joo-hyuk died on October 30, 2017, in a car accident near Yeongdong-daero in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

At that time, he was taken to a hospital after the accident, but he died without recovering consciousness. Born in 1972, he was 45 at the time of his death. After his death, Kim Joo-hyuk was laid to rest in the family's grave in Daesan-eup, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

Kim Joo-hyuk, the son of the late actor Kim Moo-saeng, made his debut in 1998 as a talent for SBS' 8th public recruitment, and gained popularity by appearing in movies "YMCA Baseball Team", "Singles", "Mr. Handy", "When Romance Meets Destiny", "Blue Swallow", "My Wife Got Married", and the dramas "Lovers in Prague", "God of War" and "Guam Heo Jun".

In particular, Kim Joo-hyuk was also loved for his friendly nickname 'Goo-taeng', as a member of KBS 2TV's entertainment show "One Night and Two Days" from 2013 to 2015. His posthumous film "Believer" won the 55th Daejong Film Festival's Best Supporting Actor Award, the 39th Blue Dragon Film Award's Best Supporting Actor Award, and the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards' Best Supporting Actor Award.
