[HanCinema's News] "Goodbye Earth" Release in Doubt Due to Yoo Ah-in's Arrest

Following Yoo Ah-in's recent arrest for cocaine and ketamine possession, all of his projects are now in an ambiguous situation. But none are more perilous than the upcoming Netflix project "Goodbye Earth" which may not see a release at all. Filming for "Goodbye Earth" was conducted last year from February to August. Yoo Ah-in in the leading role cannot be easily replaced short of simply reshooting nearly the entire project.

Netflix was able to quickly announce that Yoo Ah-in would be replaced with Kim Sung-cheol for "Hellbound - Season 2" in part because Yoo Ah-in's role was not as important for the second season as it was for the first. There were far fewer scenes to reshoot. The situation is especially bad for other actors who appeared in the project. Kim Young-woong recently expressed distress via social media, the lesser known actor having earned a big break with a supporting role in the project.

Kim Young-woong admitted that Yoo Ah-in made a mistake, and there was no getting around that. Still, he claimed that everyone worked hard on "Goodbye Earth" and were looking forward to its premiere, and the situation was regrettable that it might not see the light of day. Netflix has stated that whether or if "Goodbye Earth" will premiere on the streaming platform is currently being negotiated, and it is not known whether Kim Young-woong has access to any inside information on this matter.
