[HanCinema's News] "12.12: The Day" Sets Record for Sustained Box Office Popularity

The Korean Film Council released figures on January 2nd showing that "12.12: The Day" had earned 262,368 admissions the previous day. Though low in general terms, the figure is significant in historical terms due to the lateness with which it was achieved. This is the forty-first straight day at the South Korean box office where "12.12: The Day" had at least one hundred thousand admissions, making it the only film to have had its popularity continue for so long.

Previously on New Year's Day "12.12: The Day" passed the twelve million viewer mark, the film already having become the most widely watched theatrical release of 2023. But the sheer longevity of "12.12: The Day" at the South Korean box office may be even more noteworthy. "Miracle in Cell No.7" was the previous record holder at just forty straight days. "The King and the Clown" held it for thirty-nine days, while "Ode to My Father" held it for thirty-five days.
