[Aisha's Take] "Hit the Spot": Are We Really Ready for the Conversation?

Nude and sexual scenes are no longer foreign to K-Dramas, but a drama solely based on the topic is something new.

"Hit the Spot" tells the story of two friends in the thirties who are still trying to find their way through their love and bed life. Hee-jae (Ahn Hee-yeon) and Mi-na (Bae Woo-hee)  are the chosen ones to host a podcast called 'FataG Spot'. In the podcast, they highlight many issues and stories related to sex.

So we wonder. Is the audience ready for it?

The drama aims to remove the taboo and to let this conversation be more open. It mainly focused on females and how they wish to be satisfied too. Like Hee-jae. She finally begins to open up in her five year-old relationship. She expresses her wish to experience climax. Even though this conversation brought an end to the relationship, she is determined to satisfy her needs.

At the sams time, "Hit the Spot" does not exclude romance. It emphasizes on love and complications involved in relationships. The main problem in Hee-jae's first relationship is not sex but infact, it made her realize that she was never the priority. Mi-na had also went through a severe heart break so she decided to never get in a relationship again. Until Woo-jae (Choi Kwang-rok) made her experience butterflies again.

With K-Dramas now growing popular around the globe, perhaps the web-drama has secured audiences. But overall, the drama came on screens as an experiment. It pointed out important issues that perhaps will still never be talked within the Asian society.
